National First-Gen Day is celebrated on November 8t of every year to commemorate Lyndon B. Johnson signing the Higer Education Act "HEA" of 1965. Through this act we were able to enable the Federal Financial Aid Programs to fund students education and invest in college and universities. Till this day we can see the contributions of the Higher Education Act "HEA" with programs like EOP, Federal TRIO programs, and other programs that promote access to higher education for first-generation college students.
